Zak Smith’s “A Red and Pleasant Land” (http://www.lotfp.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=190) released recently, and it is beautiful and cool. It includes a new class for Lamentations of the Flame Princess and other OSR games, “The Alice”. The rules require very little tweaking for Dungeon Crawl Classics; here are the few changes that occur to me.
Hit Points, Weapon Training, Base Attack Bonus, Saves: As it says in RAPL, the same as Thieves. Saves are as per Thieves, but 1 lower, as it says in RAPL.
Alignment: Usually Chaotic. Alices sometimes seem Lawful, but they’re too curious and distractable to follow the rules for too long.
Thief Skills: The Alice gains Thief Skills as a Thief half their Level.
Thieves’ Cant: Alices don’t really know Thieves’ Cant, but they can fake it fairly well with an INT roll. Thieves are “in the know”, but Alices can fake it marvellously well.
Exasperation: Works as in RAPL, but use the dice chain for Exasperation rolls as per below.
- Levels 1-2: 1d4
- Levels 3: 1d5
- Levels 4-5: 1d6
- Levels 6: 1d7
- Levels 7-8: 1d8
- Levels 9: 1d10
- Levels 10: 1d12
Leveling Up: Roll d% on the table, exactly as listed in RAPL.
Luck: The Alice regains spend Luck the same as Thieves, and can spend it on the same things.
